To stop eating excess calories from high calorie snacks, try to keep all your snacks in ONE specific spot in your kitchen (and all of these snacks have to be healthy, low calorie, snacks! Examples of delicious, healthy snacks below!)
By keeping all your snacks in one place, you know exactly where to go to when you get that sudden craving - and you won't have to look around for a snack - hopefully not a high calorie one!
Always eat your snack in ONE location. Don't walk around to other parts of your house, etc, just stay still and finish eating it!! If you bring food everywhere with you, you'll just keep eating it, and eat too much.. even if it is healthy, it doesn't mean there aren't any calories! So if you have to eat, just eat in one specific location. Finish your food there, feel satisfied, and go back to where you were before. By the way, that one specific location SHOULD NOT be in front of a computer, tv, or anything distracting. You can accidentally eat too much if you are distracted by something!
Tip from creative1287: If you want a snack, check first to see if you're thirsty rather than hungry. Thirst can easily be mistaken for hunger! (oh, by the way - stay away from sweet drinks! They can easily have so many calories!!!)
A list of suggestions of healthy snacks (use your judgement):
- plain popcorn
- dried fruit
- trail mix (careful, nuts have lots of calories and fat, but it is good for you in small portions)
- fresh fruit juices
- raw vegetables (go easy on the dressing, or get used to eating it without any!)
- tortilla chips
- boiled eggs
- whole grain crackers, etc.
- there's many many more.....~ ^^
- water chestnuts (thirst quenching...- from cherlo)
